As we all know by now, President Obama got reelected for a second term on Tuesday. Florida is still counting their votes and hasn’t been declared either way, but it’s not a game changer. So congratulations America. A lot of people have complained that Obama hasn’t done enough for this country in his first term, but he had Republicans in the House and Senate obstructing most things he pushed forward, and what he did accomplish was phenomenal. Healthcare reform, bringing our country out of the worst recession it’s seen since the Great Depression, and also doing more for the LGBT community than all 43 of his predecessors in office combined. Just on that last point, we have accomplishments such as the repeal of DADT, fighting against DOMA, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, support for ENDA, plus appointments of openly gay and trans people to office. Here’s to hoping that the obstructionists realize that they need to get around to doing their jobs and not worry about who our next president will be in four years.
Not much to say today. Have a good weekend everyone, and I’ll see you here again on Tuesday!
