Hey all! I know I’ve been away for a while, and I have good reasons, which I’ll talk about some next post, but I am back. Today though is not about my absence. Today is National Hug a Lesbian Day! I’m glad we have holidays like this, and I think we should make it international. So to all my girl-loving sisters out there in the queer family, here’s a hug for you. Spread the love, and maybe one day we’ll have a “hug queer guys” day too! We need to take more opportunities to celebrate our community, and days like today are a good start. See you all Tuesday, and have a good weekend!
Interesting – I would never have known such a day existed! Thanks for posting.
There’s some form of queer holiday pretty much every month:
International Holocaust Remembrance Day – January 27th
Hug a Gay Day – February 2nd
Hug a Lesbian Day – March 15th
Day of Silence – April (day varies from year to year)
Hug a Trans Person Day – May 2nd
Stonewall Riots Anniversary – June 27th (and the whole month is pride month)
Celebrate Bisexuality Day – September 23rd
National Coming Out Day – October 11th
National Ally Week – 3rd week in October
Gay History Month – October
International Transgender Day of Remembrance – November 20th
World AIDS Day – December 1st
I’m sure there’s more, and we can always make more. I firmly believe we need to celebrate our community.
